The Simplest Things Are Often the Most Sacred
When we first became parents, we started reading every label under the sun. You’d think baby products would be the safest out there, but so many of them have ingredients we can’t even pronounce. It made us stop and think. If we wouldn’t eat it, why would we put it on our baby’s skin?
Of course we used our tallow on our precious little one, even as a newborn. I still remember rubbing it between my hands, letting it soften before massaging it into our baby’s skin after bath time. No complicated steps, no synthetic smells, just that pure, natural softness. Her skin stayed buttery smooth, and those little dry spots and diaper rashes never became an issue.
Now it’s part of our nightly routine. Bath, tallow, pajamas, and cuddles. It’s such a small thing, but it feels like a moment of calm in the middle of all the noise. A reminder that we don’t need all the extra stuff to care for our family. Nature already gave us everything we need.
It’s funny how something so simple can shape the way we live. Slower, more intentional, and connected to what feels real. Every time we open that little jar, it reminds us that caring for our family doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to be honest.
I have found that parenthood is about slowing down enough to feel the magic in the ordinary and routine moments.
As a parent you realize the moments that matter most aren’t complicated. They’re quiet, honest, and full of love.
Our Simple Nighttime Routine for Baby
Over time, this turned into one of our favorite evening rituals — something that helps our baby wind down and helps us slow down too. Here’s how we like to end the day:
1. Warm bath.
We start with a warm bath to rinse off the day and help our baby relax. A few minutes in the water helps soothe her muscles and set the tone for rest.
2. Moisturize with The Original.
After gently patting her skin dry, we warm a small amount of The Original between our hands. This one is our go-to for all things baby — from keeping her skin soft to calming little dry patches or diaper irritation. It’s completely pure, made from grass-fed tallow, and gives the kind of hydration that actually lasts without any unnecessary ingredients.
3. Add a touch of The Ultimate Soother.
Once she’s dressed in her pajamas, we like to take a tiny dab of The Ultimate Soother and massage it onto the bottoms of her feet and a light touch on her temples. The gentle lavender scent brings such a calming energy and helps her (and honestly, us too) drift into a peaceful sleep.
4. Snuggle and slow down.
We finish with some quiet time — rocking, singing, or reading a short bedtime story. It’s the perfect way to end the day feeling grounded and connected.
These simple moments have become our favorite part of the day. Caring for your baby doesn’t need to involve complicated routines or chemical-filled products. Sometimes the most natural things are the ones that work best.
At the end of the day, it’s the simple things that mean the most.
